Encouragement....

A dear friend just e-mailed me her devotions for this morning found in Life's Daily Prayer Book. I hope it encourages you like it did me! (Thank you, Wilma!)


“Keep my message in plain view at all times. Concentrate! Learn it by heart! Those who discover these words live, really live; body and soul, they’re bursting with health.” Proverbs 4:21-22

Dear Heavenly Father,

All too often, I only pray about my health when I’m sick. Forgive me. Every day that I feel great, every moment that my body is working well, is really cause for prayer, a reason for thanks.


Thank You for how intricately You wove me together in my mother’s womb, for the time You took in making me-- well, me!

Thank You for all the healthy days I’ve enjoyed in this life. I ask that You would increase my wisdom about how to care of this wonderful miracle body You’ve given me. I don’t ever want to take it for granted. Amen.

Look to your health; and if you have it, praise God. ~ Izaak Walton

You are too kind. Thanks for the encouraging words. I've been feeling a little sad these last few days I think because it's November and my little guy would have been four on the 23rd. Yesterday our story in jr church was about joshua and caleb. the more time passes the more I miss him and wonder what he would be like. Would he be into cars like his two brothers, would he eat most anything like josh or would he be a picky eater like DJ and Courtney, who would he look like? I'll never know these answers, but I'm glad I know where he is and I will one day get to see him.
Thanks for leading the small group on Wed night you are very gifted in that area and I love to hear how God is working in your life and in the lives of your children. I enjoy having them in Sunday school and consider it a priviledge to teach them God's word.
You asked how much weight I have lost well when I devlivered Joshua I weighed 220lbs believe it or not. When I think about how I let it get that high I think about the song by casting crowns It's a Slow Fade. It did not happen over night. I just kept on saying yes to all the wrong foods and eventually it got away from me. Now I'm starting to fade the other way praise the Lord. I started working out with Regina last year and I lost a little more. Then I really hit it hard around May or June. I now weigh 150 by my scale and 155 by the Ymca's scale. I like my scale better although I think it's probably a little off but at least it is going down over time. I was kind of at a stand still and not feeling very motivated so I'm glad Heather started this challenge to give me another boost.

I just wanted to share some verses with everyone when I read this first one I made it my prayer for our group.
Ephesians 3:16-21
I pray that out of his glorious riches He may strengthen you with his power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in you hearts through faith. And I pray that you , being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God. Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be the glory in the church (and our group) and in Jesus Christ throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen

Gal 5:16-18
So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want. But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.
When I did weigh down workshop 12 or so years ago. one of the things they said was the food itself was not bad but how much of it you eat is the problem. Last night I really wanted a piece of cake so I asked for a smaller piece and only ate half of it. knowing that Heather, Missy and Amy were in the room also made me think twice about eating the whole piece. Accountablility is good. Missy I will try not to bring clothes pins to any functions that i know you will be attending I don't want to be a a stumbling block for you. Love ya. Lori

Wow, Lori, I cant believe little Caleb would be four this year! I dont know what he would be like but knowing his brothers and sister Im sure he would be a really neat kid!

Boy can I relate to the slow fade...I dont know that song but it sounds like me. I got into the habit of eating whatever while I was pregnant for like three years straight...after that I was so far gone that i just continued eating badly and here I am. I have had minor success off and on but now I have to get it going before its really too late...

Its great to have you in my life and I cant wait to see how God is going to move through this challenge and all that is going on at church...

Hang in there Lori, we will all be praying for you this month as you remember your little guy and enjoy his big bother and sister and chase his little brother!!! How are the buckeyes? Say hi to the clothespins for me.

I wanted to let you know that Amy and I were not looking over your shoulder, just so you know. But, if it helps you get where you want to be, you can TOTALLY think that!!!

Okay so I know it is really bad diet policy to reward yourself with food, but...If I meet my goal of 15 lbs before christmas, I am totally eating maybe a dozen of the clothespins for breakfast with my Christmas morning coffee....

I am now done talking about lori's clothespins.
