The Journey Begins....

"...let us strip off every weight that slows us down. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. " Hebrews 12:1

Welcome to Day 1 of The Biggest Loser Competition!

There is still time to join today!

The purpose for this contest is for everyone to receive encouragement on the weight loss journey! Let's do our best to respond to each other's comments and be honest about our own struggles and victories!!

Let's review the rules and the prizes at stake:

1. No starvation- eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner...and healthy snacks, too, if you're hungry.

2. Do something active everyday- that may be chasing the kids, walking the halls at school, etc., but do it for health, not weight loss. Dr. Oz and Roizen say in their book, The Real Age Makeover that every person needs a 1/2 hour walk everyday. My stipulation: just do something active & fun! It is great for the psyche.

3. Goal= healthy weight or a little above...not below! Look on the Ideal weight calculator on Self.com. This gives a great range of numbers to shoot for. You can choose to be at the low end or high end.

4. Focus on health-strive to make right eating choices everyday and enjoy the food of the earth. As much as you can, eat whole grains and less sugar! You're going to feel great.

5. Read something encouraging everyday. Take at least 10 minutes in the morning and focus your day. Restate your goals, give up your own desires and ask God to help you make right decisions and prioritize your life. 10 minutes is doable!!!6. Blog every other day at least (you won't be graded on this). We need the encouragement and accountability from one another.

Every Friday we will weigh-in with one another. I will post a blog and you can put your current weight loss in the comment section.

I don't like focusing so much on weight, but it is a tangible way to judge who the winner is. So, the person who loses the most weight from now until Decembere 20th, wins.

The first place winner will receive a free product worth up to $91 retail
The second place winner will receive a free product worth up to $50 retail
The third place winner will receive a free product worth up to $10 retail
Later on this evening I will post all of the contestants so you can get to know each other better!

I hope everyone had a good first day,

I went to a birthday party and didnt eat any cake!! which sounds really silly, but I am glad I skipped it. God impressed upon me that the weight loss/healthy living journey is made one decision at a time. Such an easy concept, yet so difficult to do sometimes...

Good for you!! I've got a birthday celebration tomorrow; I hope I can be as strong!

Yay, Miss!! I am proud of you...it is so hard to say, "No!" when everyone else around you is eating!! Woo hoo!

Erin, I enjoyed the class the other morning, but I missed being able to talk! What time do you want to meet Wednesday?

Heather, I thought the class was great too but I agree, talking was more fun! I could meet at 5:30 or 6 on Wednesday; which works better for you? I'm going to try to haul myself out of bed tomorrow for the class--I didn't have Missy's willpower at the birthday party tonight. :(

DO NOT beat yourself up....you're not going to gain weight from one piece of cake, so don't worry! This is going to be a GREAT week!!
6AM Wednesday works for me. Friday we can meet at 5:30 if Lori wants to join us on the treadmills. Eventually, I'd like to meet more, but right now, with lack of sleep, it's too hard to get up that early. :( Baby steps...

Im not sure I can hang with this 5:30 am workout crowd!! Just kidding! More power to you girls!!!
I just wanted to say, i encountered cake #2 and Still no cake has crossed my lips, but dont be too impressed, i had a toasted marshmallow mocha it was non fat though...and there is still the issue of Lori's clothespin cookies being in season...no will power in the fallen world can stand up to those magicial cookies!!!!! Have a great work week everyone!
