A Day of Thanks

In 1621, the Plymouth colonists and Wampanoag Indians shared an autumn harvest feast which is acknowledged today as one of the first Thanksgiving celebrations in the colonies.

Because of this, we have a day set aside for Thanksgiving to the Lord. Pretty cool, huh? But, we who know and worship the God of Creation, know that thanksgiving goes back a lot longer...Even before Jesus came to earth, God's creation was praising Him for His great works!

It is good to give thanks to the LORD ... to declare Your lovingkindness in the morning and Your faithfulness by night. Psalm 92

The Pilgrims knew hardship, they knew tragedy and loss. They were not giving thanks to God because their lives were perfect, but because, in the midst of the hard times, God was faithful.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6

Be thankful in all circumstances, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.
1 Thessalonians 5:18

Then he took some bread, gave thanks to God before them all, and broke off a piece and ate it. Acts 27:35

Devote yourselves to prayer with an alert mind and a thankful heart. Colossians 4:2

Let them offer sacrifices of thanksgiving and sing joyfully about his glorious acts. Psalm 107:22
I will offer you a sacrifice of thanksgiving and call on the name of the Lord. Psalm 116:117

Thank you, Lord, for your goodness and GRACE in my life. I am in awe of who you are and all that you have done!

Let's live today in an attitude of thanks and teach our kids to do the same!
