The Best Granola Bars....

This week, while I am in Arizona, I decided that my theme was going to be "The Best Of My Favorite Things...."
I am going to give to the best option and the worst option for some of our favorite foods. If you have a favorite you'd like me to include, let me know!!
This morning I am on a plane, so of course, I wrote this blog last week while watching the snow fall out the window. I know I am going to enjoy my week and a half away, but I will enjoy getting back to Boardman. It really is HOME!! Wow, it feels good to say that!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I love granola bars for a snack. Isaiah loves sharing them with me. You really have to be careful when selecting a granola bar because they can be so bad for you!! Generally, they are very high in fat and sugar, yet they have the appearance of absolute health!

What we need to look for in a granola bar...
1. High in Fiber
2. Low in sugar, no HFCS (no more than 8grams of sugar)
3. High in Protein
4. Personally, I don't want a bar to have more than 150 calories
The Winner is...

TLC Chewy Granola Bars (Cherry Dark Chocolate is my favorite...read the label!)
With rolled grains, lightly sweetened red tart cherries and dark chocolate, Cherry Dark Chocolate granola bars have 4g of Fiber and 5g of Protein.

The Loser is...(sorry!)

Quaker Caramel Nut Chewy Dipps Bar...Why? 13 grams of sugar, only 2g of protein, milk chocolate is the first ingredient...I can do better for a healthy snack! Now, if the debate is between this bar or a 3 Musketeers bar, I might say this was the healthier option, but maybe not!! :)

What is your favorite granola bar?

My favorite is the tlc honey almond flax. I couldn't find them at sparkle so I went with the Kellogg Fiber Plus Antioxidant it has 7g sugar and 2protien and 9g fiber. It was quite good.

That is funny. I read an article the other day. Best and worst supermarket foods. I was going to suggest doing this. :-)

My favorite granola bar is Fiber One oats & apple streusel. They have 35% of your daily fiber requirements. They're 130 calories ea. 9 grams of fiber & 11 grams of sugar. (Maybe that is too much)?

I'm going to try the Kashi TLC brand that you mentioned.

I will miss you guys. Have a great time in Arizona.
