Check-In Week 3

Wow, I have learned a lot this week after hearing from Jon and my Dad. I liked my Dad's term, "Working the plan...". He listed four things that helped him accomplish his goals...he stuck to those four things and didn't swerve to the right or the left. Because of this, I think for our check-in, we should all list our "Plan"...2-4 things-our non-negotiables- which will help us meet our goals!
1. What's Your "Plan"? Make it your lifestyle!
I was talking to a very thin Italian woman (I teach with her at the Y...she is a super sweet woman) who said to me(in her Italian accent), "You know, everyone asks me how I am so thin. They always seem to think that I have it so easy. I always tell them,"It is not easy! I was not born this way. I choose to not eat things that are bad for me. I walk everyday and I lift weights while my husband and I watch TV!" In response to this woman, another teacher said, "I think I would rather be overweight than live like her!"

My point? Being at our "ideal weight"...whatever that may be...isn't easy, but it is rewarding! My Italian friend is thin and healthy, but she works at it, it takes a lot of energy on her part. Her lifestyle has become non-negotiable. Does she indulge every once in a while?...YES! But, indulging isn't her lifestyle!
My Plan...
This week, I decided that NOT exercising wasn't an option (bad grammar, I know!). I feel so much better when I exercise, so I decided that whatever it was going to take, I would exercise every day. So far, I have (just a half an hour, but I did it)! Every morning this week, I have layed in bed, debating if exercise really was the best decision, but YES, it was and it is! I KNOW that if I exercise I will feel better and more energetic and better about myself. So, I have exercised everyday!

I also decided that NOT reading my Bible wasn't an option. My main purpose in life is to LOVE God and love others...reading my Bible and spending some quiet time with the Lord helps me accomplish both. Plus, I gave up negative talk for Lent and I KNOW I can't do that without focusing on the Lord first thing in the morning. He really is my bread and my LIFE! He reminds me what is truly important. This week, these two things have been my focus...my "Plan"...my non-negotiables!

(As much as I can, )I don't buy sugary things or junk food. I don't eat much sugar because too much makes me feel disgusting and I don't want it in the cupboard to tempt myself. (Of course, all of you know, I LOVE my soft serve ice cream from McDonald's or Chick-Fil-A...very sugary...but I have cut back a lot!)

I plan my meals. I snack often. I drink my protein drinks. I count calories. If I get off course, I get back on. These are things that help me survive and not binge. I have found what works for me, what keeps me healthy and maintaining! I just have to remind myself of these things from time to time because I do get off course! And, I still have a long way to go!

What do you know WORKS for you? It is your life and your body, no one knows it like you! Make those things apart of your plan!!!

2. Oh, and don't forget to tell us a victory this week!
Mine was exercising(except for Sunday...day of rest) and reading my Bible everyday!!

Well, here comes my accountability! I am 174.8 lbs today! Why is that you ask? What happened? Oh let me tell you! My low will power need to reward with food self! I seriously have no excuse for my actions! Yes it was my birthday and my son's, but I didn't really need to eat all the food I cosumed last week. Not to mention I didn't write anything down as though I could pretend I wasn't eating all that! Was all the food good? Nah not really yes the homemade Carrot cake that a coworker made me was delicious but I should have stopped there! I am disgusted with myself. My Victory this week is realizing that I am still so much the same old me and will turn to food way too often! My PLAN STOP DOING THAT! lol Seriously, I will have more control call a friend run the steps three times first, anything but just reach for food.

HI Everyone,
My victory this week is that I've gotten back on track...it had been a really bad 6 weeks prior. I've exercised 4 times and cut out all sweets/junk.
My plan for success is to continue to exercise 3-4 times a week and cut out sweets; also to learn portion control!
Bobbie, happy belated birthday! Best of luck for a new week!!
Good luck everyone!

My victory this week is that I exercised 4 times this week. I need to improve what I do for exercise though, right now I am just trying to get into the habit of doing cardio on either our eliptical or treadmill. I will eventually add strength training on some sort. I also have taken my vitamins everyday which will help protect me from sickness and give me what I dont get from food. My plan is to continue adding healthy habits to my life until they just become inherent to my daily routine and I will continue to find new healthy food items that my family will accept :) Some have worked but I still haven't heard the end of the "turkey"/"cardboard" bacon. For those of you who don't know, I have an amazing 9 year old who has a knack for saying just what he's thinking (wonder where he gets that)
I want to feel good and I need to take an active role in this because it will require a considerable amount of work on my part. By the way I am still at the same weight as I have been for awhile guess gotta step it up.
Keep up the good work everyone! Happy late BDay Bobbie- NO more cake unless its a rice cake :)

My victory this week is that I am making taking my vitamins and drinking my water a habit! Last week I weighed 133.5 lbs. I thought is was a fluke, so yesterday I weighed myself 133.5 again. I did it today at the same time, before I eat in the morning and it was 134.5. So I must fluctuate a little, but that is still a few pounds lighter than normal. Oh hubbys home, I will write more!!

Oh man, I just typed a huge thing and forgot to type the word verification and it deleted it all!!

So here it goes again. My plan is to continue to change 3 areas of my life:

1. My relationship with God. This needs to become more of my daily routine.

2. My environment. I need to continue researching and changing things in my environment to become healthier. Things such as household cleaner, personal care products, etc.

3. My lifestyle. I need to eat healthier, more balanced meals and exercise more!

Thank you Heather for all your work and advice with this blog, I really enjoy it. Some ideas for future blogs. I would like to see a week or so of your daily routine. What exactly you eat, when you exercise, etc. I think it would be really helpful. I also would like to see some info on household products. Kind of like your eat this not that, but use this not that and why. Thanks again!!

I will start working on that, Tawnya! Next week will be dedicated to a healthy home environment. I will also share my "schedule". I have been putting it off because I am so not perfect and have been a little tormented!! :-) I will post it in the next couple of days!! :)
