Breakfast is Best....

Does this oatmeal look amazing or what? Click here for recipe!

For Fun Food Friday this week, we're focusing on breakfast...

Yes, it really is the best meal of the day! Have you ever eaten a sugary donut in the morning and wondered why you've been craving sugar all day? Or wondered why you were hungry again two hours after the donut?

I am the type of person who loves having a routine. I love having the same thing for breakfast everyday (either my Cinch Shake or my Energizing Soy Protein Shake) and getting my morning started a certain way. I am weird, I know! But, breakfast really does set the tone for the entire day! So, choose wisely!

For those of you who love variety, make a list of your favorite HEALTHY breakfast foods and keep those foods on hand. Make breakfast enjoyable, but don't give yourself too much room to make food decisions when you're ravenous after your nighttime "fast".

Here are some great options....
  • Fresh fruit & yogurt (watch out for added sugars and calories...make sure the yogurt isn't just low-fat, but low-calorie, too!)

  • High-fiber cereal with skim milk and fruit (I love Fiber One cereal, which has the most fiber I've found!)

  • Oatmeal- Make the old-fashioned kind, but add all the things you love- nuts, skim milk (or soy), raw sugar, etc....it can be a great masterpiece!

  • Smoothie made with nonfat yogurt, frozen blueberries, and avocado (you can't even taste the avocado, and it is so good for you!)

So, breakfast lovers...enjoy the day!

I really like oatmeal. I eat it at leasts 3-4 times a week. I'm going to try that receipe. It sounds yummy.

I agree that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. I can't just have a cup of coffee and go in the morning. I need to eat some thing that will keep me going until lunch. Especially when I am working.

Heather, do breakfast shakes really stay with you? I've tried SlimFast shakes, and although they taste good, they don't keep me going until lunch.

Elaine-
Yes, these do. They are packed with protein and last a long time. I drank them all throughout my pregnancy with Moriah, because I needed something that would last me through work. I am not a good breakfast eater, but love my Shaklee shakes. :) I feel great after drinking them.

Watch out for Slim Fast- it has alot of different forms of sugars and additives that you don't need. It really isn't that nutritious...oatmeal is much better!!

I am praying for you everyday and your healthy decisions. Love you!

I've been eating oatmeal a lot this week. Something hot before going out in this cold has been good for me. Even had it this morning. Sometimes I put a banana in mine. Very good and quick to make. As for cereal I sometimes take it to work for lunch. The new Special K Vanilla Almond is pretty good and reasonably priced at Target. Most of their cereals are a good value which is good for us because w go through alot of it
